The calculator does one division — here is how to check it by hand — Pakistan
A tool that prints a size is only useful if you can reproduce its answer without it. Three figures go in, one product and one division happen, and two lines come out. Everything below the form is the same sum written out longhand.
Amount × share gives the money at stake. Stop distance × money per pip gives the loss per full lot. The first divided by the second is the size. That is the entire calculation, and it is finished before any account exists.
The rows assume a dollar-quoted pair such as EUR/USD: 100,000 units × 0.0001 puts a pip on a full lot at $10. Another instrument prices a pip differently. Learning and planning only — not financial advice.
Reproducing the answer in two lines
Take the defaults above. $100 × 1% = $1 at stake. 20 pips × $10 a pip per lot = $200 of loss per full lot. $1 ÷ $200 = 0.005 lots. The form printed the same thing, and now you can check it anywhere, on paper, without opening a browser.
Do the check once per instrument class rather than once per trade. What changes between symbols is the $10 — that is units in a lot × one step of price, and it is read from the specification window, not borrowed from this page. shows where the figure comes from.
What each box feeds

Two inputs push the answer up and two pull it down. Nothing in the form asks which broker, which platform or which day it is, because none of those appears in the division.
Four things the form cannot know
- Your money per pip. It assumes a dollar-quoted currency pair; a metal or an index has its own multiplier.
- Whether the size can be placed. Below 0.01 lots a Standard ticket refuses it — the second row then shows the identical trade in smaller units.
- What holding the position costs. Spread is quoted live on the ticket, and an overnight charge applies per symbol and side.
- Whether the trade is worth taking. Any three numbers produce a size; none of them is an opinion.
Why does the first row print before the size?
Because it is finished arithmetic on its own: amount × share needs neither the distance nor the instrument.
Two size rows appeared. Is that two trades?
One. The lower row is the upper one expressed in smaller units.
The size came out below 0.01 lots. Is the tool wrong?
No — the division is correct and the result simply cannot be typed into a Standard ticket. lists the three inputs you can change.
Where would I get my own money-per-pip figure?
Units in one lot × one step of price, both read from the symbol specification. explains why it differs.
Does the share in the middle box have to be a percentage?
It is only a convenient way to reach a money figure. If you already have the amount, divide straight away and skip the box.
Should the amount box hold my whole balance?
Whatever you size from — but be consistent. Sizing from a total that already carries open positions enlarges every later trade.
Does the spread belong in the stop distance?
Not inside it. Add it separately, priced with the same money per pip, as extra distance before the position is level.
